Alamance Community College issued the following announcement on Apr. 1.
The Scott Family Collection at Alamance Community College has a new online exhibit that debuts on Thursday, April 7, at 12:00 noon.
“The Scotts at the Bingham School” virtual exhibit tells the story of two brothers, James Edwin Scott (1859-1888) and Robert W. Scott (1861-1929), who attended the Bingham School in the 1870s.
The Bingham Schools were popular and respected preparatory schools for boys in Alamance and Orange counties for over 100 years.
“The Scott brothers made good use of their training at Bingham and they both enrolled at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1877,” said Peggy Boswell, Curator of the Scott Collection.
The exhibit will be available on the Collection’s website (www.scottcollection.org) and on the Scott Family Collection YouTube channel.
The Scott Family Collection, housed on the Alamance Community College campus, showcases the impact of the Scotts in Alamance County since the early 18th century. Their accomplishments, highlighted in displays and digital kiosks, focuses on the five major areas of their influence: Agribusiness, Education, Medicine, Public Service and Religion.
