Carrboro Town Council announces upcoming meeting and swearing-in details

The Carrboro Town Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Carrboro Town Hall, located at 301 W. Main St. The public can attend the meeting in person or watch the livestream through YouTube at www.YouTube.com/CarrboroNC or by accessing https://carrboro.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx.

During a recent organizational meeting on December 2, 2025, local elected officials took their oaths of office. Mayor Barbara Foushee was sworn in by Judge Joal H. Broun. Council Member Fred Joiner read his oath with North Carolina Representative Allen Buansi present, and Council Member Danny Nowell also read his oath with Rep. Buansi in attendance. Council Member CristĂłbal Palmer will take the oath of office at a later date.

A resolution of appreciation was presented for Council Member Randee Haven-O’Donnell, who received standing applause after sharing remarks about her years of service to the community. At this same meeting, Council Member Eliazar Posada-Orozco was selected as mayor pro-tem.

The council typically holds regular business meetings on the first and third Tuesdays each month and work sessions on second Tuesdays; no public comment or votes occur during work sessions.
