Mayor Barbara Foushee recognized Local News Day on April 9 with an official proclamation, according to a statement released on April 15.

The recognition highlights the importance of local journalism as a key part of democracy. Many Americans consider local news and information to be their most important and trusted source of news.

Carrboro is home to two local news outlets, WCOM 103.5 FM and The Carrborean. Residents are also served by other media including WUNC-FM, WCHL Chapelboro, The Daily Tar Heel, The Local Reporter, INDY Week, the News & Observer, and Triangle broadcast media.
