The Orange County Department on Aging, in partnership with the Project EngAGE Mental Wellness Senior Resource Team, will host an event focused on self-compassion. The event, titled “Being Kind to Ourselves: Practicing Self Compassion,” is scheduled for November 6 at the Seymour Center in Chapel Hill.
According to organizers, “We recognize the importance of being kind those around us – our friends, our family, and even the stranger in the checkout line at a grocery store. We practice kindness and compassion towards our loved ones. Yet, it is so hard to feel compassion towards ourselves.”
The program will include a presentation on treating oneself with kindness and compassion, followed by a hands-on art activity. The event is free and open to the public.
It will take place from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Registration is required by November 3 and can be completed by calling 919-968-2070. For questions or assistance with registration, contact Lana Dennis at 919-245-4276.
