County of Orange issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.
Orange County Solid Waste invites the community to share feedback on its services and programs at four public meetings. These meetings are taking place in conjunction with the development of a Solid Waste Master Plan to reach Zero Waste by 2045. Public meetings are set to take place as follows:

For the plan’s purposes, Zero Waste is defined as the reduction of solid waste to nothing, or as close to nothing as possible, by minimizing excess consumption by means of responsible production, consumption, and reuse and maximizing the recovery of material through recycling and composting.
“Residents have come to expect high-quality services from Orange County,” said Orange County Solid Waste Director Robert Williams. “It is important for us to continue to level-up by engaging in a planning process that can set us on the path of Zero Waste by 2045.

The Orange County Solid Waste Management Department operates the Orange County Integrated Solid Waste Management facility, which contains the Construction and Demolition Landfill, Regulated Material Recycling, and Mulch and Compost Sales. The Department also manages the County’s comprehensive Recycling Collection Programs for residential and commercial entities and five Waste and Recycling Centers, including two with Household Hazardous Waste and Food Waste drop-offs
Survey options also available to provide input
For residents who can’t attend one of the public meetings, Orange County Solid Waste has released a survey for respondents to share their opinions on and experiences with current Orange County Solid Waste services and to shape its Road to Zero Waste Plan.
The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and will be open until Dec. 7.
To take the survey, visit www.orangecountync.gov/ZeroWaste. The results of the surveys will inform the Road to Zero Waste Plan and be presented to Orange County’s Solid Waste Advisory Group. The survey is available in English, Spanish, Burmese and Chinese.
