Town of Chapel Hill recently issued the following announcement.
Each year in November the Town of Chapel Hill celebrates Arbor Day by planting one or more trees at Town-owned facilities such as entryways and parks.
This year – to raise awareness of the benefits of planting trees in the fall and to celebrate our town’s tree canopy – the Community Tree Committee and Mayor Pam Hemminger are announcing the “Mayor’s Tree of the Year” contest.
“The Tree of the Year Contest celebrates the importance of trees in our lives by focusing on the story of a single tree and its connections to our community” said Mayor Hemminger.
Nominations will be accepted Nov. 1–22.
