Xduyhla12ng4ydnqegrhzzsxlpzpftfl

Town of Hillsborough issued the following announcement on April 17.

The Orange County Health Department is now providing a weekly summary of confirmed COVID-19 cases on Fridays, starting this week.

As of 9 a.m. today, April 17, the data shows 161 confirmed cases and 2 deaths. The summary shows confirmed cases by age, gender, race and date of specimen collection. This week’s summary is available on the Orange County website and is attached to this news release.

Note that data for the weekly summary is based on the North Carolina Electronic Disease Surveillance System, which is a day behind the case count provided by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. The Electronic Disease Surveillance System has more comprehensive demographic data.

The state updates its COVID-19 case count dashboard daily at 11 a.m. Currently, the state shows 175 cases and 3 deaths for Orange County.

Going forward, the Town of Hillsborough will share the weekly summaries via @HillsboroughGov social media on Facebook and Twitter only. To subscribe to Health Department news releases and receive the weekly summary of cases, send an email to kprelipp@orangecountync.gov. Kristin Prelipp is the communications manager and public information officer for the Orange County Health Department.

Please continue to stay physically apart from others not in your household. See the news release from leaders across the county that urges continued adherence to the stay at home order. Efforts so far are helping to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed. Gatherings of any size increase the risk of exposure to the virus.
