North Carolina voters could potentially have more voting options this fall if the state Legislature makes changes to the election rules, according to a report on Chapelboro.com. 

The state Legislature is debating measures that would allow residents to request mail-in absentee ballots easier, the Chapelboro.com reported on May 27. The bill would also let officials recruit staff for polling sites. The proposal would also give $27 million for security and equipment upgrades for elections. 

In North Carolina, mail-in absentee ballots are already allowed for any voter, Chapelboro.com reported. The state, however, is expecting the demand for these to increase this year with COVID-19 and the bill would make requesting them easier. 

Some legislators are also working on every North Carolina registered voter receiving an absentee ballot request form in the mail, according to the Chapel Boro. The form would also include postage and envelopes.
