TOWN OF CHAPEL HILL: Fire Damages Apartments in Chapel Hill

Town of Chapel Hill issued the following announcement on Apr. 27.

The Chapel Hill Fire Department responded to a fire in an apartment at 800 Pritchard Avenue Extension at 3:20 p.m. Sunday.

A preliminary investigation found that the cause of the fire appears accidental and happened while a resident was cooking. The quick-thinking resident alerted neighbors and asked them to leave the building. The resident has a minor injury and no one else was hurt.

There is extensive damage in the apartment where the fire started. One neighboring apartment has water damage and another neighboring apartment has slight smoke damage.
