TOWN OF HILLSBOROUGH: Weekly Digest: May 27, 2022

New

Town of Hillsborough issued the following announcement on May 27.

The following are news releases and key reminders for the work week ending May 27.

Utility Company No Longer Allows Flags on Poles

No flags will be flying along downtown streets over the Memorial Day holiday weekend as Duke Energy no longer permits single-pole flags on its utility poles. The utility company has approved an agreement for decorative banners, and the new banners will be installed this summer for holiday and other observances when they are available.

Memorial Day Closings and Service Changes

Town offices will be closed, and garbage collection will be rescheduled due to Memorial Day. Routes that would normally be served on Monday, May 30, will instead be served on Tuesday, May 31. For more information, see the curbside collections calendar.

Police Arrest Last of Six Suspects in Shooting

The shooting outside an apartment complex is believed to be related to a drug transaction.

Report Water Theft

Those who pay to use water from a hydrant do so from one with an orange box that contains a water meter. Water theft can cause safety and operational concerns for the public water system. If you see theft occurring, call 911 and the Hillsborough Water Treatment Plant at 919-732-3621 at any time of day.
