CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO CITY SCHOOLS: National Cyber Scholarship Foundation Competition!

Competition

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools issued the following announcement on June 7.

Congratulations to five Chapel Hill High School students who placed in the National Cyber Scholarship Foundation (NCSF) competition! Over 45,000 students nationwide sought to qualify for a National Cyber Scholarship (NCS). Under the instruction of Jennifer Walker, CHHS Cisco Academy Instructor, Cybersecurity Club and FemSTEM Club Advisor, these students have worked through multiple cyber challenges throughout this school year to earn these distinctions. Jacob Dang, Isaac Samsky, and Evan Silberstein-Kanes received the rank of “Scholar,” while Alyssandra DePasquale and Matthew Gill were ranked as “Finalists.” Way to go!

The Scholar rank indicates the top 1152 highest scoring students who met the eligibility criteria for a Scholarship (including being in 11th-12th grade or enrolled in an accredited U.S. college), who have each been awarded free access to this summer’s Cyber Foundations Academy and a digital Scholar badge. The Finalist rank indicates the highest scoring 2325 students who completed the NCSF Scholarship Application, who will each be awarded a digital Finalist badge.

The National Cyber Scholarship Foundation is a national nonprofit whose mission is to identify, nurture and empower the next generation of cybersecurity experts; and eliminate the cybersecurity skills gap in the United States. Thousands of high school students nationwide participated to score points while solving a wide range of cybersecurity challenges through an exciting online cybersecurity training program sponsored by the NCSF.
