TOWN OF CHAPEL HILL: Speed Limit on All Town-owned Roads Will Be 25 mph or Lower

Town of Chapel Hill issued the following announcement on June 29.

At its May 4 meeting, Council enacted an ordinance to support its commitment to #VisionZeroCH. Beginning today, the speed limit on all Town-owned roads will be 25 mph or lower.

This ordinance will set a 25 mph speed limit on the remaining two Town-owned roads which still have a 35 mph speed limit:

Piney Mountain Rd. b/t Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. & Summerlin Dr.

Legion Rd. between Ephesus Church Rd. and Scarlett Dr.

The amendment also establishes school zones at all Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools in Chapel Hill's jurisdiction (effective today) and provides a process to establish Neighborhood Slow Zones.
