Town of Hillsborough issued the following announcement on July 20.
Help build safer communities by getting to know your neighbors and officers Aug. 2 during the 38th annual National Night Out.
Hillsborough police officers will make the rounds to neighborhoods participating in the community building event that night.
The event, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, typically takes place 6 to 9 p.m. the first Tuesday in August.
It’s designed to increase safety by promoting police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
Currently, Bellevue Mill Apartments, Cadence at Cates Creek Apartments, Gateway Village Apartments, and The Lory of Hillsborough are offering events that Hillsborough officers will attend.
Neighborhoods are encouraged to let the Hillsborough Police Department know of any National Night Out events planned for Aug. 2 to help facilitate a visit from officers.
To register an event, contact Sgt. Scott Foster by email or by phone at 919-296-9563.
This year’s National Night Out is expected to involve more than 16,000 communities across the nation.
