Chapel Hill Public Library will be closed this week, and Chapel Hill Transit will operate on Sunday routes with some service limitations. Additionally, several Parks and Recreation facilities will have adjusted hours on Friday and Sunday. However, residential trash collection will remain unaffected, and Orange County Solid Waste will collect curbside recycling on Saturday.

In other news, the Chapel Hill Public Library has been named a finalist for the 2024 National Medal of Museum of Library Service, which is the highest honor given to museums and libraries in the nation.

Furthermore, the Chapel Hill Transit has introduced seven new all-electric buses to their fleet, showcasing the town's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. These new buses come equipped with front racks for bikes, improved lighting, and increased driving range.

Additionally, the Chapel Hill Police Department is inviting young women aged 14-19 to participate in a free, six-week series aimed at exploring careers in public safety and local government.

Moreover, the Town of Chapel Hill is offering summer employment opportunities for youth aged 14-18 living in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School District. Applicants are required to meet specific income guidelines.

Lastly, the Pride Plaza Artwork application is open for submissions, welcoming artwork celebrating LGBTQIA+ Pride in June. Local artists who identify as members of the LGBTQIA+ community are encouraged to apply.

These updates and opportunities provide various ways for the community to engage, participate, and contribute to the vibrant town of Chapel Hill.
