Movies Under the Stars is gearing up for a special event on Saturday, May 4, coinciding with Star Wars Day. The free outdoor screening of Star Wars: A New Hope will take place on the Carolina Square lawn in downtown Chapel Hill. The event is a collaborative effort presented by Chapel Hill Community Arts & Culture, Chapel Hill Public Library, Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership, and Chelsea Theater.

Xavier Vallejo, Special Events Coordinator for Chapel Hill Community Arts & Culture, expressed the team's enthusiasm for the occasion, stating, "Our team is excited to be celebrating May The Fourth." Vallejo, a long-time Star Wars fan, is looking forward to the creativity displayed in the costume contest associated with the movie screening.

Attendees are invited to arrive at 133 West Franklin St. behind Target and next to the Carolina Square parking deck from 7 p.m. onwards. Pre-show entertainment, including Star Wars trivia, will kick off at 7:20 p.m., with a costume contest offering prizes for the best-dressed participants. The movie will commence at sundown, accompanied by complimentary popcorn for all.

To secure a spot at the event, individuals can RSVP on the official Facebook page. Bringing blankets, chairs, water, and flashlights for after the screening is recommended. Parking options are available at 140 West and 106 Mallette Street, with a reminder that Chapel Hill Transit bus services in the area conclude at 8 p.m.

For further details, interested parties can visit the event webpage. Chapel Hill Community Arts & Culture, a division of the Town of Chapel Hill, aims to foster creativity and community engagement for a better Chapel Hill.
