Police seek help identifying driver in hit-and-run involving bicyclist

The Chapel Hill Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in locating a driver involved in a hit-and-run incident that occurred Thursday morning.

At approximately 9:55 a.m., the driver struck a bicyclist at the intersection of W. Franklin Street and Kenan Street. The driver initially stopped but left the scene without providing any information. The bicyclist was transported to UNC Hospitals with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle involved is described as a black older-model Honda Pilot, likely with damage to the right side doors. The driver is described as a Black female in her 20s, with long hair, wearing a green tank top and pants with a flower pattern.

As of an update provided at 8:30 p.m., police have identified the driver as 26-year-old Brianna Nicole Beasley. Beasley has an active warrant for felony hit and run and unsafe movement. She is believed to be driving a black Honda Pilot with the North Carolina tag TFL-4785.
