Local trail and environmental enthusiasts of all ages are invited to celebrate National Trails Day® with a guided trail walk along the Bolin Creek Trail on Saturday, June 1 from 10 am to 12 pm. Participants who register will receive a free synch backpack from Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation while supplies last.

The event will begin at the Bolin Creek trailhead, located at the Chapel Hill Community Center Park. Local Adopt a Trail champions Steven Feuerstein and Jeanette Bench will discuss invasive plant removal and explain how individuals can join the ongoing efforts of the Adopt a Trail Program.

National Trails Day®, organized by the American Hiking Society, is a nationwide trail service and advocacy movement. It provides an opportunity for people across the country to come together to celebrate the benefits of trails and promote environmental stewardship. The event aims to share information about restoring natural habitats, connecting with nature, and learning about wildlife and conservation.

Further details on the event and registration can be found on the National Trails Day web page. According to organizers, "It's the perfect opportunity to get out there with the people you love, give back to the trails that bring us together, and make sure no one is left out."

The event is presented by The Friends of Chapel Hill Parks, Recreation, and Greenways, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Town of Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation department and improving quality of life for community members.
