July 11, 2024 - Chapel Hill is gearing up for an array of events this July, including an international soccer match, a Parks and Recreation facilities tour, and another Family Fun Friday at the Chapel Hill Public Library. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the Greene Tract newsletter and provide comments on NCDEQ's draft Brownfields Agreement addressing coal ash at the 828 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. property.

International Soccer Returns to Chapel Hill on July 23

Manchester City will face Celtic FC at Kenan Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, as part of the 2024 FC Series. Downtown will be busy on match day, so attendees are advised to allow extra travel time and consider carpooling. From July 22-24, free trolley rides will be available from 1 to 9 p.m., allowing exploration of downtown businesses in Chapel Hill and Carrboro.

Chapel Hill Transit's Tar Heel Express shuttle service is recommended for game-day transportation.

Family Fun Friday on July 12

The next Family Fun Friday event will take place on July 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Chapel Hill Public Library. The event features live music from Alina Celeste and Mi Amigo Hamlet, games, food vendors Poblano's Tacos and Maple View Farm Ice Cream, and activities for all ages.

Parks and Recreation Facilities Tour

On Sunday, July 14, Chapel Hill Parks and Rec invites residents to a special facility tour as part of Parks and Recreation Month. Participants can meet staff members and learn about local parks.

Free Weekend Parking in Downtown Chapel Hill

Parking in downtown Chapel Hill remains free on weekends throughout July. Town-operated parking lots are included in this offer.

Moth Identification Event

A nighttime moth identification event will be held at Pritchard Park on Saturday, July 13. Special lights will attract moths for observation.
