The University of North Carolina Department of Athletics is recruiting volunteer football ushers for the upcoming 2024 football season.

Volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and welcoming environment at Kenan Stadium on game days, acting as representatives of the Department of Athletics. Ideal candidates should be reliable, dedicated, observant, and possess strong communication skills.

Usher responsibilities include greeting fans and assisting them with finding their seats, developing a thorough knowledge to provide accurate directions and answer questions related to policies, teams, facilities, and events. They are also expected to anticipate and respond to any issues or concerns that may arise, inspect areas for potential hazards and report them promptly, maintain clear aisles, stairways, and portals, execute emergency plans as needed, assist in overall crowd and event management, and enhance the overall experience for fans, staff, and other community members.

Benefits for volunteers include being part of the UNC Athletic Event Management team, receiving a UNC volunteer uniform (which generally includes a hat, unique polo shirt, jacket), concession vouchers on game day, and complimentary admission for themselves and one guest or immediate family member to all regular-season UNC athletic events excluding men's basketball games, football games, and postseason events.

Volunteers must be able to stand for several hours at a time, communicate effectively with diverse groups of people, complete various tasks as instructed by supervisors. They must attend training workshops and work all home football games. New volunteers are required to complete a criminal background check along with various volunteer documentation while adhering to UNC's policies as well as ACC and NCAA expectations. All volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Interested individuals should complete the Usher Tar Heel Google Form by Friday August 9. The form submission indicates agreement with all duties, expectations qualities required from a Tar Heel Usher. Any questions can be directed to Carolina Football Ushers at CarolinaFootballUshers@unc.edu. More information is available at www.goheels.com/gameday.
