The University of North Carolina's Athletic Director Bubba Cunningham and John Montgomery, Executive Director of The Rams Club, have reached out to Tar Heel season ticket holders, fans, and Rams Club members. They provided an update on efforts to support student-athletes with Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities.

In their message, they highlighted the formation of three multi-sport collectives over the past two and a half years. These collectives facilitate autograph sessions, appearances, and commercial promotions for Tar Heel athletes. Cunningham and Montgomery emphasized the importance of NIL options for the university's 28 teams and over 800 student-athletes. They expressed gratitude to those who have contributed to these initiatives.

Looking ahead to April, the NCAA is set to vote on whether universities can play a more significant role in facilitating NIL opportunities for student-athletes. Anticipating approval, UNC is preparing by discussing consolidating the three collectives under one umbrella. This move aims to enhance collaboration between the Department of Athletics and The Rams Club within existing regulations.

Cunningham and Montgomery acknowledged that NIL has sometimes been confusing for donors, athletes, and fans but believe consolidation will streamline efforts. In the interim, they encouraged supporters to learn about the collectives: NCHOF (North Carolina Hall of Fame), Heels4Life, and Secondary Break Club.

NCHOF focuses on honoring UNC student-athletes while promoting local charities in Chapel Hill. "When I was a student-athlete," said Carolina Field Hockey Coach Erin Matson, "NIL opened doors...I encourage our fans to contribute."

Heels4Life supports football players through its HOLD THE LINE campaign aiming to raise $1 million for NIL opportunities. Football Coach Mack Brown stated: "Supporting the Heels4Life NIL collective is our greatest fundraising need."

Secondary Break Club serves men's basketball by creating NIL opportunities aligned with team values such as community service. Basketball Coach Hubert Davis noted: "Carolina Basketball has long believed in giving back...and NIL gives us the chance to enhance that focus."

The letter concluded with a call for continued support as student-athletes seek new ways to benefit from their NIL.
