Young fans are invited to join the North Carolina women's sports teams for the 2024 UNC National Girls & Women in Sports Day. This annual event, which highlights women's athletics at Carolina, is organized by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina along with Carolina Athletics. The celebration will take place on January 21 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the Bill Koman Practice Complex on the UNC campus.
The event targets girls and boys from pre-K through eighth grade. Participation is free, and those who register in advance, including parents or guardians, will receive a complimentary ticket to the UNC women's basketball game against Louisville at Carmichael Arena at 2:00 p.m.
Blue Cross NC has increased its support for women's athletics by being the presenting sponsor of Carolina women's basketball and National Girls & Women in Sports Day.
The event will feature mini clinics with each sport, allowing children to try various skills in an enjoyable environment suitable for all ages. Most of the 15 UNC women's varsity teams, such as cross country, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, swimming & diving, track & field, and volleyball will participate.
Attendees are reminded to bring their signed waiver to the event. Information about check-in and parking will be sent via email to those registered ahead of time.
