Six athletes from the University of North Carolina's Tar Heels participated in six events during the first day of the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg. Peyton Berryman stood out by securing second place in the unseeded women's pole vault. Berryman previously won last year's pole vault at the Hokie Invitational, achieving a jump of 3.93 meters.
In the 60m hurdles preliminaries, Danni Stoughton and Max Stakun-Pickering both finished fourth in their respective heats but did not advance to the finals. Stakun-Pickering set a personal record with a time of 8.38 seconds.
The second day will feature several field events with Tar Heel athletes competing: Sydney Banks will participate in the women's high jump at 11:00 a.m., while Megan Kelleghan is scheduled for the seeded women's pole vault at the same time. The men's shot put will include Sam Corley, Bryce Kazmaier, Max Stakun-Pickering, and Issac Young starting at noon. Sam Corley will also compete in the men's high jump at 1:30 p.m., followed by Paul Signorelli and Ben Finger in the seeded men's pole vault at 1:45 p.m. Danni Stoughton will conclude her participation with the women's shot put event at 2:00 p.m.
