A construction project has led to the closure of Ridge Road on the University of North Carolina (UNC) campus, effective from December 1 through January 8. This closure is expected to affect traffic for home Tar Heel athletic events until the first week of January. The events impacted include this week's ACC/SEC Challenge home games for both men's and women's basketball teams.

Ridge Road will not be accessible to through traffic between Stadium Drive and the Boshamer Stadium Parking Lot during this period. Drivers are advised to follow detours along Manning Drive and South Road/Raleigh Road.

Fans holding RD permits for Carolina athletic events and those with accessibility permits (ADA plate, placard, or permit) are directed to detour via Stadium Drive. Other drivers should adhere to the official route.

Pedestrians are urged to stay vigilant around construction areas and use the designated pedestrian detour on the north side of Ridge Road when moving through this zone.

Chapel Hill Transit will adjust its CCX and RU bus routes due to these changes. Buses will now travel on Stadium Drive, bypassing stops on Ridge Road and South Road. For more details on route changes and affected stops, individuals can visit Chapel Hill Transit's website.
