TOWN OF CHAPEL HILL: Chapel Hill Police Investigate Incident That Injured Bicyclist

Town of Chapel Hill issued the following announcement on Jan. 27.

The Chapel Hill Police Department is investigating an incident that injured a bicyclist on Franklin Street at about 12 p.m. Tuesday.

The bicyclist was traveling west on Franklin Street near Graham Street when a driver of a parked vehicle opened their door to get out of the vehicle. The bicyclist struck the open door and was thrown from the bicycle.  The bicyclist remains at UNC Hospitals with life-threatening injuries. 

The investigation is still underway and there is no additional information available.
