Town of Hillsborough issued the following announcement on Jan. 20.

It’s been a bit of a balmy winter, but did you know there are some steps you can take to protect your pipes from freezing when winter temperatures are especially low?

Some simple tricks can keep those pipes warmer, like keeping cabinet doors open, allowing a faucet to drip slowly and making sure your water meter box cover is intact and closed.

See additional tips as well as what to do if your pipes are frozen or have burst in the document Tips to Protect Pipes from Freezing. That and other cold weather resources are available on the Ready Hillsborough page of the town’s website.

Be sure to report water line breaks and other water-related emergencies immediately by calling the Hillsborough Water Treatment Plant at 919-732-3621. Leave a message. Call a plumber for pipes that break inside or under your house.
