University of North Carolina School of the Arts employee Gretchen Stuart donates $1,540 to Bernard Sanders' campaign

Gretchen Stuart, an employee at University of North Carolina School of the Arts, donated $1,540 to Democratic Party candidate Bernard Sanders, according to the Federal Election Commission.

According to records, there have been $6,840 in campaign contributions made by individuals affiliated with University of North Carolina School of the Arts as of November 3. All of these contributions were made to Democratic Party candidates and committees.

Louise Winstanly's contribution of $5,000 to Democratic Party Cal Cunningham was the largest contribution made by someone affiliated with University of North Carolina School of the Arts since January 1, 2019.

According to an Inside Higher Ed analysis of federal elections data, individuals that were affiliated with colleges and universities have donated five times more money to Joe Biden than to President Trump. A study by Pew Research in 2017 found that 58 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents thought colleges and universities have a negative impact on the way things are going in this country.
