A national poll distributed by McLaughlin & Associates in January 2022 surveyed likely general election voters' outlook on the current leaders of the Biden administration, finding on average 57% disapprove of President Joe Biden’s job, while only 41% approve.

In their monthly survey of national trends related to the American political environment, McLaughlin & Associates seeks insight into voters’ outlook on and opinion related to several current topics. The January 2022 survey was conducted from Jan. 13 to Jan. 18 and polled 1,000 likely general election voters.

According to the results, 56% of people believe Kamala Harris is unfavorable, while 39% say she is favorable. Opinions of Nancy Pelosi followed a similar pattern, as 61% say she is unfavorable and 33% say she is favorable.

Over the Biden administration's first year in office, U.S. public opinion and optimism related to their economic well-being has dwindled. As of January, 62% of Americans believe the economy is getting worse, while only 30% say it is getting better.

At the beginning of the Biden Administration, however, the general opinion of the U.S. economy was split more proportionally. A year ago, 52% of Americans believed the economy was worsening while 42% said it was improving.

When Americans were asked in the poll how they felt about making former-President Donald Trump’s tax cuts permanent, 61% approved and 26% disapproved. Of those numbers, in the South region, the move gained approval from 62% of respondents, while 23% disapproved.

In the 2020 election, the state of North Carolina favored Donald Trump and Mike Pence as its presidential pair.
