TOWN OF HILLSBOROUGH: Solid Waste Collection Delayed due to New Year’s Day

Town of Hillsborough issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.

The Town of Hillsborough will not service solid waste routes on Friday, Jan. 1 to observe New Year’s Day.

Town offices remain closed to the public due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Cash water and sewer payments may be made by appointment only. See the news release for more information.

Garbage collection — Residents whose garbage is normally picked up on Fridays will receive service on Monday, Jan. 4.

Brush collection — Brush collection will follow the same schedule as garbage collection.

Christmas trees — Trees may be placed curbside for town brush collection. Trees must be removed from the stand and free of tinsel, ornaments, lights and other decorations. Trees also may be brought to any of Orange County’s waste and recycling centers except the one on Bradshaw Quarry Road. The centers will be closed Jan. 1. Recycling — Orange County waste and recycling centers will be closed Friday, Jan. 1. See the Orange County Solid Waste Management Department website for more information.

Landfill — The Orange County landfill will be closed Friday, Jan. 1. See the Orange County Solid Waste Management Department website for more information.

Rollout carts — Rollout recycling and garbage carts may be placed by the street as early as 4 p.m. the day before collection. They should be removed from streetside by 6 a.m. the day after collection.
