On Wednesday, an incident unfolded in Texas, resulting in the death of eight individuals, including two Americans. The fatal crash transpired on U.S. Route 57 in Batesville when a human smuggler, transporting illegal immigrants, collided with an SUV while attempting to evade Zavala County deputies, as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The fatal crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. when the driver of a 2009 Honda Civic, suspected of transporting smuggled migrants, attempted to evade Zavala County Sheriff’s Office deputies, said AP News. "In the course of this attempt, the Civic tried to overtake a semi-truck but collided with a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox, igniting a fire. All occupants in both vehicles lost their lives," confirmed the DPS. The victims included the 21-year-old Civic driver from Houston and his five passengers, some of whom were from Honduras according to DPS spokesman Christopher Olivarez and two individuals from Georgia who were in the Equinox.

"We have got to stop the illegal flow of immigrants across the Southern border. It's gotten worse and worse. In Aug., we saw the greatest number of family units cross in the history of the country,” said Senator Thom Tillis in his press release announced on Tillis Gov., criticizing Biden administration's handling of border crisis.

The House Committee on the Judiciary initiated an investigation into President Biden's management of immigration crisis along U.S.-Mexico border according to Fox News. This inquiry includes an examination of whether he had authority to remove razor wire installed by Texas authorities on Rio Grande near Eagle Pass." Since President Biden's inauguration, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has encountered 6.3 million illegal immigrants along southwest border." As stated in a committee letter addressed to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas," The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released 2.9 million of these individuals into U.S. communities."
