Atlas Logan has been appointed as the next Director of the Chapel Hill Public Library and Chapel Hill Community Arts & Culture, following a nationwide search. Logan, who currently serves as Norcross Branch Manager with Gwinnett Public Libraries in Georgia, will assume her new role on April 29, 2024.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the new position, Logan stated, “Working within the library allows me to spend my life in service to others by helping community members in their own quests for knowledge and fulfillment.” She also expressed her commitment to building upon the existing foundation of service and ensuring inclusivity, equity, and sustainability in events, resources, and services.

Town Manager Chris Blue highlighted the rigorous selection process, praising Atlas for her leadership skills and passion for enhancing the community through libraries and arts. Blue emphasized Atlas's dedication to the mission and values of Chapel Hill.

The recruitment process, managed by Developmental Associates, focused on candidates capable of leading both library and arts teams while prioritizing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. The position became available when Susan Brown, the previous director, transitioned to the role of Town’s Executive Director for Strategic Communications.

Atlas Logan, a Florida native, holds degrees from Stetson University, the University of South Florida, and the University of Central Florida. She will succeed Meeghan Rosen, who has served as Interim Director and Assistant Director for both Library and Arts and will retire this Spring after 25 years of service to the Town and community.

In recognition of Rosen's contributions, Blue expressed his gratitude, stating, “Meeghan has led the library and the arts teams through many transitions, and I deeply appreciate her leading us through this exciting time.”
