The Town of Chapel Hill is abuzz with exciting events and activities this week, offering residents numerous opportunities to engage and participate in the community. One of the highlights is the upcoming push-in ceremonies for the new Carolina blue fire engines, set to take place on Saturday, April 13 at Fire Stations 2 and 3.

"We’re hosting traditional push-in ceremonies at Station 2 and Station 3," the announcement reads, inviting the community to witness the arrival of the brand-new fire engines. The event will include a chance to check out the fire trucks and explore the stations, followed by a brief push-in ceremony at 9:45 a.m.

Additionally, residents are encouraged to attend various events throughout the week, such as the Great Streets Workshop on Tuesday, April 9 at The Junction on East Rosemary St. The workshop will focus on the Downtown Public Right-of-Way Plan, which utilizes ARPA funds for streetscape enhancements and mobility plans. Speakers will discuss streetscape improvement projects from around the country during the event from 5 to 7 p.m.

Another exciting event to look forward to is the visit of Rubbish the Raccoon to 140 West Plaza until mid-May. This temporary public art piece, created by artist Nyssa Collins, highlights Earth Day and environmental sustainability by incorporating recycled materials such as plastic bottles and aluminum cans. The community had the chance to contribute to the artwork by adding fur made from repurposed plastic bottles, many of which were sourced from Haw River Assembly’s trash traps.

In addition to these events, the Town of Chapel Hill has a full calendar of activities including meetings of various advisory committees and the Council Legislative Breakfast on Friday, April 12. Residents are encouraged to stay updated on the latest schedules and events by checking the Town of Chapel Hill's calendar, Chapel Hill Public Library's calendar, and other community calendars.

With a variety of engaging events and opportunities for involvement, Chapel Hill residents have a vibrant week ahead to connect with their community and surroundings.
