Town of Carrboro issued the following announcement on Mar. 26.
Mayor Lavelle Joins County In Issuing "Stay at Home" Proclamation
The county wide “stay at home” declaration issued today represents around-the-clock efforts by county and town leaders to once again address the coronavirus emergency together with one voice. We felt this coordination was absolutely necessary in order to most effectively combat this crisis across Orange County. This declaration expands orders already issued by Governor Cooper. The proclamation I am issuing today consents to the Orange County declaration.
This declaration for residents to “stay at home” also supplements two previous proclamations I have issued regarding this crisis. After declaring a state of emergency in our town on March 13, I issued a proclamation on March 20, urging our residents to “shelter in place.” I asked residents to limit trips outside of the home to those that were absolutely necessary, and to take time to go outdoors for health, mind, and soul. Please continue to do so. The safety of our community depends on you.
Yours in service,
Mayor Lydia Lavelle
