Town of Hillsborough issued the following announcement on Sept. 17
The planning and tourism boards need volunteers to join them in ensuring Hillsborough remains a great place for living, working and visiting.
Planning Board
The Planning Board is seeking to fill two upcoming vacant seats designated for town residents: one this fall and another in 2021.
The Planning Board reviews planning issues within the town’s zoning jurisdiction. It also reviews and makes recommendations on rezonings, subdivisions and ordinance amendments.
To help the board to offer a diverse geographical perspective, applications are especially welcomed from neighborhoods outside the Historic District and West Hillsborough.
Meetings are at 7 p.m. the third Thursday of the month. Due to current public health concerns, the board is meeting remotely via Zoom. Terms are for three years. For more information, contact Planning Director Margaret Hauth by email or by phone at 919-296-9471. Visit the board’s page on the town website.
Tourism Board
The Tourism Board has a vacancy for someone who owns or works for a restaurant or other business that collects and remits the prepared food and beverage tax.
The Tourism Board drives economic development by promoting travel, tourism and visitor services. It sponsors programs and activities designed to improve Hillsborough's attractiveness to visitors. To accomplish this, the board reinvests the town's prepared food and beverage tax in funding for grants, special projects and partnerships, and contract services.
Meetings are at 5:30 p.m. the first Monday of the month. Due to public health concerns, the board is meeting remotely via Zoom. Terms are for three years. For more information, contact Economic Development Planner Shannan Campbell by email or by phone at 919-296-9477. Visit the board’s page on the town website.
