Town of Hillsborough issued the following announcement on Oct. 30.

The work of a group developing a plan for recovery from COVID-19 can now be seen on the group’s website, orangencforward.org.

The Orange County Long-Term Recovery Group is a partnership of nearly 150 community stakeholders, Orange County and the towns of Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough. Available now on the group’s website are:

  • An assessment of the impacts COVID-19 has had thus far on health, economy, housing, and social services in Orange County.
  • A summary of the results of a community values survey conducted Aug. 31-Sept. 11.
Both the assessment and survey results will be used to create a disaster recovery plan to increase the community’s resilience ― its ability to withstand and recover from disruptions like natural disasters, accidents or attacks through individual and community preparedness. The assessment’s key findings and the survey results summary are attached below. The full assessment can be seen on the recovery group’s website.

Participants in the Long-Term Recovery Group attended cost recovery training today, Oct. 30. The training provided local recovery administrators the knowledge and tools to possibly recoup some funds expended on recovery efforts.

The public will have opportunities this fall to provide input on the draft recovery plan. Look for information soon on the group website.
