Town of Carrboro issued the following announcement on Feb. 13.
The Town of Carrboro was honored to host Consul General of Mexico in Raleigh Claudia Velasco and her staff on a Friday (2/10/2023) visit to #Carrboro arranged by Council Member Eliazar Posada. The meeting at Town Hall included dialogue on advancing safety, education, and economic opportunities for Mexican immigrants in our community. Guests were presented with bilingual (English/Spanish) Town of Carrboro calendars, and the consul general received a Carrboro coffee mug.
Attending were Council Members Eliazar Posada, Randee Haven-O'Donnell and Barbara Foushee, and Poet Laureate Liza Wolff Frances. Other consulate representatives in attendance were Adriana Villarreal (protection and legal affairs), Felipe Garcia (political and economic affairs), and Monica Colin (cultural, education and community affairs).
